I'm on the top of the world ...

Today has just been a good day.

I found someone who enjoys the same authors as me.

And the same music too. Which is rare at my school.

Also, I had a sub for Euro today. When I didn't do my homework. Really, what did I do to deserve this?

Life Between the Posts

It has been a long, long time since I've posted. Mostly, I've been journaling the old fashioned way -- pen and notebook. But this Friday, I lost my pen. Now I have lots of pens, but I'm picky about stationery and things like that. It's either my favorite pen, or no pen at all.

So this morning I was presented with a problem: I had about 14 pages of history to read and take notes on. I couldn't not do homework, but I couldn't do anything without my pen. So I dug up an equally fine-pointed, but no flow-challenged, pen and I spent 6 hours painstakingly taking notes on the Cold War. I hate homework.

So right now, I am watching The Memory Keeper's Daughter. So far, so good. And outside, there is a slightly overweight girl walking a slightly underweight dog. And she's talking very loudly on her phone. I mean, really loudly. I'm on the second floor with the TV going right next to me and I can still hear everything she's saying. And, she's gone.

So what have I been reading lately? (I realize I have started the last 3 paragraphs with 'so') We finished All Quiet on the Western Front in class -- book and movie. I went into it thinking I wouldn't like the book. I mean, really, who wants to read a book called 'All Quiet on the Western Front'? Just the title sounds boring. But when we finished, I actually thought it was really good. Same thing happened with 'The Joy Luck Club'. I thought I would hate it, but it was one of my favorite class books. And I just finished The Lovely Bones about 2 days ago. Very good. Just reading the first page, and I couldn't put it down. I actually forfeited computer time to read it. I went an entire week without internet so I could spend my free time reading it. So proud of myself. And.. I started On the Road and I am almost done with Howl. And I still have to finish my Jon Bon Jovi biography and figure out where I stopped in A Confederacy of Dunces. And... that's it.

A First has occurred last Saturday: my first mascara -- Maybelline's Define-a-Lash. The best drugstore mascara, according to Splendora. Some may consider my first mascara a little late, considering the girls in my neighborhood start war-painting their faces in the 7th grade. (I mean, really, what 12 year old needs foundation? They've already got clear, pre-adolescent skin. But then again, who am I to speak, when I started using concealer in the 8th.) I gave eyeliner a try but... well, let's just say Bret Michaels does a much better job pulling it off than I do.

Moving on -- I picked classes for next year. Junior year. The most important year for colleges. Basically, I'm continuing on the track I'm on this year. Only, I am taking PE (eww) and newspaper. Finally! I've waited 2 years to be in newspaper, so I'm really excited. I'm considering taking photography senior year. Or maybe AP psych. Who knows.

Onto a subject in the foreseeable future: summer classes. Am taking history of rock and history of jazz classes at the community college. Very excited for that. But what I really wanna do is learn guitar. Or get a job. And drive!

Gosh, it's hot today. Stopping here. Must read up on Deep Purple now.

Wedding Playlist

Just like every other girl in the world, I dream and I daydream about what my wedding will be like. So far, I have no clue. Except that it is to be a very intimate affair, very small and candle-light-warm. And what songs and other music is to be played. I've put months of thought and a lot of editing into this.

This is an ongoing project.

1. Kellyjackie 他約我去迪士尼 «He invites me to Disneyland» (Instrumental)
For the wedding party's procession.

2. The Verve Bittersweet Symphony
For mine. The opening riff on this is amazing.

3. Bon Jovi Wild in the Streets
For right after, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride." Literally, just blasting from speakers half a second after 'bride.'

4. Guns N' Roses Sweet Child O' Mine
An alternative recessional. This may be more appropriate because it's more of a love song than 'Wild in the Streets,' is ... I still have a while to decide, right?

5. The Rolling Stones Wild Horses
By now, you may have guessed that I have fallen in love with this song. And why shouldn't I? Why shouldn't anybody? It's so perfect. Maybe this version or The Sundays' cover as a prelude and/or as background music during the actual ceremony.

6. Bon Jovi In These Arms & I Want You
GREAT songs! My two most favorite songs by my favorite band! First dance.

7. Bon Jovi Never Say Goodbye
I know, there's already a lot of Bon Jovi. But this is the perfect last dance song. It feels like one of those closing up the bar songs. You know and the bar is kinda smoky too.

Thoughts

So for the past 4 hours, I've been listening to "Bitter Wine," by Bon Jovi, "Wild Horses," by the Stones, "Who Are You," by Pearl Jam, and "Leaving On a Jet Plane," by Chantal Kreviazuk, nonstop. And so far, I haven't tired of them yet.

So much for my resolutions. I've pretty much given up on every one of them except for Number Two and Number Four (I read two books this month!). Must restart in February.

The deadline for the local poetry contest is on the 13th, and although it's been a year, I haven't gotten anything. Just lines, but you can't submit a a collection of one-liners, right?

My love for Bon Jovi has not ceased. I think it's preventing me from discovering any new music, though. They're all I listen to these days (hehe.. a little humor there). I have yet to see them in concert. They'll be in San Jose this April. Even though I can't watch them, at least I'll know they were in the vicinity.

A note on "Bitter Wine." I've been trying to decipher it for the longest time. Maybe since the first time I heard it. Not so much decipher it as build a playlist around it. Anyways, it's been on that On-the-Go list on my iPod alone for months. And earlier this morning, at around 4 am, it finally came to me. A song that matched it's clarity and sound. It was one of those so-obvious-you-couldn't-see things. It was a classic. "Wild Horses." And it's been looping ever since.
